I write this with mixed feelings. It is my last welcome as your Editor. It was back in 1997 that I had the idea of publishing a free sheet for selling horses (Horse & Pony Marketer), but we soon discovered that readers in Scotland wanted a publication which would give them much more and we soon found ourselves publishing a paid-for magazine (The Scottish Equestrian) which became the publication of choice for many horse and pony owners in Scotland. Then in 2003, we spread our wings into the North of England and became Scottish & Northern Equestrian.

It has been a lot of hard work which has been ably supported by my husband John and our dedicated team. Now at the young age of 70, I have decided to hang up my Editor’s hat and to hand over the reins to Fiona Fleming, who now becomes Editor. Fiona along with Susan Cox, our Advertising Manager, are the new management team at Hillaine Publishing.

I hope you will continue to give Fiona and Susan the support you have given Scotland’s No.1 horse magazine in the past.

Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive of me personally over the years (some of you from the very beginning). You will know who you are and I can’t thank you enough – Scottish & Northern Equestrian would not have been what it is today without your support.

So, I will say au revoir, not goodbye, as I am still passionately interested in horses and if I bump into any of you at a horsey event I hope I will have more time (and energy) to have a good chinwag with you, now that I’m retired.
